Phil Coke with the win!

J.D. Martinez started us off with a solo homer to dead center, giving Justin Verlander a 1-0 lead.

Trailing 3-2, Ian Kinsler launched one with Rajai Davis on base to put us back on top.

Joba Chamberlain kept it pitching in the 8th. Davis made a nice sliding catch in center field for the final out.

We tacked on two more runs in the bottom half. Cleveland’s pitcher was out of control, nearly drilling “Mr. Suave” on a bunt attempt, which ended up behind the backstop for Don Kelly to take second base. Suarez walked, letting Davis do the bunting.

Let the comedy begin. While trying to intentionally walk Kinsler, the snarf missed his catcher on the pitch out with his zany delivery, sending Kelly home and “Suave” to third. After pulling him, the next pitcher gave up the RBI to Torii Hunter, who beat out the double play try.

Those runs were necessary in the 9th. Joe Nathan got off to a rocky start, letting a run score and runners reach first and second with no outs. Luckily, the next hitter grounded into the double play, putting a man at third with two outs. Nathan got the final snarf to pop up in left, where Davis dodged the sun for the catch.
