Welcome!

TheSportingSnarf  is a website dedicated to the enjoyable, humorous, and nuanced aspects of the sporting and (to a lesser extent) pop-culture world.  We attempt to touch upon (in varying degrees of print/video length) engaging topics which are not discussed nearly enough. We’d love for you to give us your perspective, network, and participate regularly. But if you’d just like to join in on the mob-mentality and get all sanctimonious on a particular sports figure — head on over to ESPN.com. (Mickey Mouse welcomes you.) Or you can keep it real with us.

Taking Care of Business

Game One in Chicago: Detroit Wins 7-1 Justin Verlander gave up an unlucky run to begin the contest. He tried to pick a runner off first, but the snarf got away and made his way to third base. He would score – but the White Sox also loaded the bases that inning and came away empty. […]

Our old coach, the current Bills defensive coordinator, seemed to unnecessarily blitz and pick up flags (sound familiar?), but the Lions responded on the field. Back-up Kellen Moore threw a strike in the waning moments of the first half […]

Tigers Walk-Off Winners!

Tigers Walk-Off Winners!

Alex Avila banged home the game’s walk-off winner in the bottom of the ninth with two outs. Avila sent one past Ichiro in right field with Tigers on first and third and the game tied. Call-up starting pitcher Kyle Lobstein kept us in the game, giving up only two runs (one earned), four hits, and one walk […]

Tigers 5, Yankees 2

Rick Porcello earned his 15th win of the season thanks to eight innings of two-run ball. All the Yanks mustered was two solo home runs by the same snarf and no walks. Detroit, meanwhile, worked it together to bring across five total. Rajai Davis walked in the game’s initial run. J.D. Martinez drove in our second […]

Tigers Take It to Twins

Leading 3-0 with Max Scherzer on the mound, it appeared that might be enough run support early on. However, the Twins tied it later that inning, forcing the offense to take action. Victor Martinez gave us the lead back on a delivery just south of the left field border, setting us up for two total runs that […]
