The Force Was Strong with Detroit on Star Wars Night

Kyle Lobstein struggled a little, surrendering some early runs to Cleveland. They struck first with a two-run homer. However, Detroit tied it three innings later on some small ball, scoring Rajai Davis on a sacrifice fly from Torii.

Victor Martinez upped his home run total to 31 on a solo shot for a 3-2 lead. Unfortunately, Cleveland re-took it on a two-out double down the line.

The game remained 4-3 Indians (racist!) for a while. With two outs and two on in the 8th inning, Hunter saved the day with a diving catch in right field. That gave us a chance.

Alex Avila took that window, driving Miguel Cabrera’s ghost runner home with a home run to right. It was an unbelievable rescuing that brought me to tears.

Joe Nathan didn’t waste it, minus walking the leadoff hitter, ending Cleveland’s hopes with a runner on second base. The final batter popped out to Davis in left.
