We looked good against the Phoenix Suns fresh off the win against Philly. The Pistons kept a double-digit lead for most of the game behind 18 assists from Brandon Jennings, then a little help from Josh Smith.

Detroit led 35-21 after one and 64-51 at halftime. Andre Drummond put back a missed Piston shot with under a second left to seal the momentum after a Sun three.

With a 72-54 lead around the ten minute mark, the Pistons were firmly in the lead. However, a few 3’s put the Suns down just 89-79 after the third.

The fourth quarter got real. The Suns started on a 7-0 run and kept it under ten the rest of the way. It looked bad when Phoenix hit back-to-back triples to tie it at 92 all, but Piston rookie Kentavius Caldwell-Pope drained his own from downtown then drove for a score, putting us back up 97-92.

After taking a 105-97 lead, Detroit surrendered eight straight, including a three in the corner with under a minute remaining.

ENTER JOSH SMITH. Smith had the ball with the shot clock nearly expired and was forced to launch his first three-pointer of the game, which he drained with 26 seconds left in the game.

The Suns went down and bricked a three before grabbing the rebound and calling timeout with seven seconds left. Gerald Green caught the ball and bricked another triple, but the refs bailed him out with a foul on Smith. He hit every free throw.

It looked desperate, but the final Piston timeout advanced the ball to half-court.

ENTER JOSH SMITH II. Smith drives from the right side of the court to the hole, and with his left hand driving he banked it home!

The Pistons held on with a Sun miss in the corner off the side of the backboard for a 110-108 final score in Detroit.
