3-1 final in LA.

Honestly, what a performance by Jimmy Howard. 44 saves on the night. The only one he allowed was borderline goalie interference on a 5 on 3 power play in the first period.

The Wings tied it before the period ended, and it stayed tied through two periods.

That’s when former Grand Rapids Griffin and reigning Calder Cup MVP Tomas Tatar scored the go-ahead. With less than eight minutes left, Tatar got the goal. He has ten this year.tatarThe Wings added the final score on Daniel Cleary’s with two and half to go.

Also, Riley Sheahan scored his first career goal in the first period. The fellow Griffin has a nice story for us:

On October 29, 2012, Sheahan was stopped by Grand Rapids police after the car he was driving was spotted driving the wrong way on the road. He subsequently registered a blood alcohol concentration of .30 and was charged under Michigan’s “super-drunk” DUI law.[6] Sheahan’s blood alcohol level was nearly four times the legal limit and almost double the “super drunk” definition of .17 under Michigan law. Police stated that Sheahan was dressed in a purple Teletubby costume at the time of his arrest. The police initially believed they were dealing with Sheahan’s Grand Rapids Griffins’ teammate Brendan Smith, who was twenty-three years old at the time of the incident. Sheahan admitted to police that he was carrying Smith’s drivers license in order to get into local bars (Riley Sheahan).[7]
