Anibal Sanchez had a no-hitter going through four innings, then some untimely hits in a row the next two innings gave the Tampa Rays another snarf win.
The Rays scored seven in those two, winning 7-2. However, they led 7-0 and 7-1 entering the bottom of the ninth with their starter Archer attempting to steal a complete game in our ballpark.
After the seventh inning stretch, Alex Avila crushed a solo homer for our first blood. Then, down to our final two outs, he chased Archer on an epic 10-pitch walk. It was a legitimate victory for the fans at Comerica who stuck around. J.D. Martinez had led off the inning with a solo homer, giving us plenty to look forward to in the series finale Sunday.
………….. you got to do this when your down like that….. stop them from celebrating ….fans who stuck around got their moneys worth… one day you’ll come all the way back from one of these games.
