Well done, G’s. It looks like Miguel Cabrera set a new personal-best with four walks against Cleveland. We won 4-1, getting back to our early season ways of winning these low scoring games.

We simply don’t need to overpower opposing hitters anymore with all this defense behind us. While the Indians and their racism struck us out twice as many times, they worked a third as many walks. Throwing strikes and trusting your defense is better than loading them up trying to be perfect. Like Shane “The Crane” boldly proclaimed, it’s better to give up a home run than a walk.

And vice versa. It’s smarter in the long run to work a base on balls vs. swinging for the fences. On offense today, it was key to our win that we just got on base. Our first three runs were a result of two+ walks. We used a nice double to score the final run, otherwise, it was five steals and seven walks. These “Greek God” hitters might be able to crush outside pitches, but it’s only at like a 20% clip. And over 162 games, it’s just too tiring.

Like oldschool always said, “You can definitely do it. But not indefinitely.”
