“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

Welcome!

TheSportingSnarf  is a website dedicated to the enjoyable, humorous, and nuanced aspects of the sporting and (to a lesser extent) pop-culture world.  We attempt to touch upon (in varying degrees of print/video length) engaging topics which are not discussed nearly enough. We’d love for you to give us your perspective, network, and participate regularly. But if you’d just like to join in on the mob-mentality and get all sanctimonious on a particular sports figure — head on over to ESPN.com. (Mickey Mouse welcomes you.) Or you can keep it real with us.

2-1 Tigers!

Anibal Sanchez surrendered one run in seven innings of work, aided by some fancy glove work in the 7th from Eugenio Suarez. The Tigers scored twice to earn him the win. The first came on the game’s opening rally, an Ian Kinsler RBI single after an Austin Jackson leadoff double. The go-ahead was earned on […]

Tigers Bring the Ruckus with 16 Runs

If you thought 14 was impressive, apparently, Detroit was just getting started. They drove in three runs to start the game and didn’t look back. It was 3-1, 6-1, 6-2, 14-2, and that’s all I can remember barring the final, 16-4. It was only one home run, a solo blast from Torii to begin that eight […]

Detroit Mini-Sweeps NL

We lova the interleague! 4-1 final in Motown. Max Scherzer earns the W, holding Los Angeles to just four hits (and two from Puig – what can you do). Joba Chamberlain shut down the 8th inning, striking out two Dodgers. It was so inspiring Joe Nathan cramped his style, even ending the game with a […]

Young Ca$h Chronicles

His Story (First Track, Scared Money Don’t Make Money): More teaching, Ca$h reminds that, “The World Is Yours.” You may think he’s too explicit, but… that harmonious beat… Does anyone really know, why? Believe It. Ca$h’s walk-off home run: Yup, he knows Webbie… Few realize the skills Young $ possesses… Staying atop the slap game: Take […]

Dan’s Open Letter

Since he recently removed it from the Cavs’ website, here it is! The worst portions are highlighted (and it was so comical in hindsight, my comments are in blue): Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert posted this letter on the team’s website after LeBron James’ announcement he was leaving for the Miami Heat. Dear Cleveland, All […]

Kanye West – All of the Lights

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJos0ifG7T0 It won Grammy Awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 54th Grammy Awards. It was produced by West and features additional vocals from several other recording artists, including John Legend, The-Dream, Elly Jackson, Alicia Keys, Fergie, Kid Cudi, Elton John, and Rihanna. via Wikipedia.

Tigers Again Deny Rays Glory

Credit to Detroit – the fans remaining and the players could have folded going into the bottom of the ninth. Instead, we denied another Tampa pitcher from throwing a complete game. J.D. Martinez led off the last frame with a solo shot, putting us within one swing down 7-3. Then, while David Price could see […]

Rays Snarf Smyly 6-3

Some untimely hits led to five Ray runs off of Tigers starter Drew Smyly. The young gun didn’t look bad, but ultimately fell in a 6-3 loss. Tampa scored their runs on just seven hits and one walk off Smyly in 5 and 1/3 innings. Detroit looks to get plunked less tomorrow. Victor Martinez, who […]
