The Tigers bounced back from a blown win for a 4-2 win over Minnesota.

The Twins scored first, and the Tigers tied it on a Victor Martinez solo home run.

Martinez slapped the ball inside the left field foul pole while batting righty.

Next, Omar Infante did the same in the ensuing at bat, upping the score to Tigers 2, Twins 1 with back-to-back homers.

Later in the inning with one man on base, Austin Jackson also went yard for a 4-1 edge.

Tigers’ starter Doug Fister pitched a gem, allowing one more run before exiting with a 4-2 lead. Drew Smyly & Al-Al finished the seventh inning for Fister, preserving the victory while inheriting two runners.

Bruce Rondon returned just when the bullpen was starting to struggle. The first batter he faced received three straight strikes at 100+ mph, equaling one quick strikeout. Rondon treated the other two batters the same, torturing them by mixing in a breaking ball. Three up, three K’s.

That was the 8th inning. In the 9th, Joaquin Benoit struck out the first batter, but then allowed a double that nearly left the park. However, Benny did not lose his cool, K-ing the final two snarfs to strike out the side himself.

The Detroit Tigers are one win away from their 3rd straight Central Division crown.

Max Scherzer will be pitching tomorrow to finish the series vs. the Twins.
