Game 1: 6-3 Twins

The Tigers left many snarfs on base and looked a little slow after having the day off.

Game 2: 7-1 Tigers

After a pitching duel kept it 0-0 for six innings, the Twins put one on the board before Anibal Sanchez ended his night with two outs, trailing 1-0. The Tigers got the final out, then started to get on base. Bryan Holaday slapped a single through the left side of the infield with two outs to begin the two-out rally. Next, Austin Jackson smacked a base hit to right field, putting runners on first and second for Torii Hunter. Hunter lined a drive to the center field wall, scoring both runners. The next inning, Miguel Cabrera cleared the loaded bases with a double.

Game 3: 7-6 Twins

The Tigers trailed 6-2 after Justin Verlander let one get out (3-run homer), but we tied it 6-6 after Austin Jackson belted a three-run blast of his own. Unfortunately, Drew Smyly was brought in for one out and didn’t record it, giving up the winning hit.

*A theme throughout the series was Manager Jim Leyland yanking pitchers in and out. It seemed to be bad timing throughout, not letting Rick Porcello finish his inning or Bruce Rondon.

Off to New York for a little NL Mets dabble.
