Justin “Out”-lander got the win for his ball club, pitching eight frames without giving up a walk. It’s his first start without a walk this season.

The Tigers trailed 1-0 through four innings in Cleveland, leaving the bases loaded in the 2nd with no outs.

Ramon Santiago tried to bunt to lead off the 5th but was drilled by Justin Masterson. With the hit and run on, Austin Jackson singled, moving Santiago over to third.

Torii Hunter hit a ground ball that scored Santiago and beat the double play. Next, Miguel Cabrera nearly homered, doubling home Hunter for a 2-1 lead. Prince Fielder moved Cabrera over to third, then Victor Martinez was beaned. VMart was in agony, but he took his base.

I was listening to the game on the radio, and the announcers remarked, “Don Kelly would have to hit a home run here to score Martinez & Cabrera [with the condition the two are in, Cabby returning from an injury and Mart just getting hit]” and sure enough, “The Don” delivered: 5-1 Tigers.

We didn’t look back.
