Even if Williams never told a player to go out and hurt an opponent and break someone’s arm or something, he knew the bounty program

Don’t forget punctuation at the end of your sentences, silly.

This is an atrocious article that should never be read again.

There should be a sports writing licensing committee stopping captain cynicals like this pussy from publishing work.

Knocking players out of games can affect their well-being and ruins the enjoyment of the sport. Football is the most violent sport in America, so we don’t need bounty systems making it even more dangerous.

lol baby need it’s rattle? KO-ing players ruins the enjoyment of the sport. Crazy, because that’s part of why I love it. I don’t want a bounty or anyone intentionally trying to hurt someone, but big hits, knockouts included, are why football is so compelling.

I know the NFL wants to protect its “brand-boys” like Brees, Brady, and Manning, but seriously, this is football. It is the most violent sport.

I’m not saying Harrison illegal hits and cheap shots are allowable or cool – no. But I like encouraging the concept of knocking an opposing QB down so many times he’s literally “knocked out of the game.” Sacking a QB over and over is one thing. Obviously, the Saints went too far trying to injure people.

Maybe we just can’t handle that there isn’t a long-term health solution for getting hit like a QB does. We’re talking blitzes targeted at one guy, blindsides, you name it. They get pummeled even in a fair fight. Why else would we pay the QB so much? Do YOU want to go drop back in an NFL game for 60 minutes with 300 lb linemen trying to “tackle” you?

Just some perspective before we lose sight of what a real, brutal game football is.

*And to clarify with SI’s coverage, as players said, its intent is not to target specific players or encourage injuring or knocking off an opponent.

“Players interviewed by SI did say that members of their defensive units pooled money weekly to reward the teammate with, for example, the best legal hit or the most sacks.”

See, not late hits or illegal hits, but HITS, nonetheless.
