As oldschool went to bed, the clock was past midnight Eastern time. The Tigers led 1-0 behind a Big Cat home run, gave up a two-run blast, tied it on another solo shot from Upton, and then went on to give up 7 straight runs. Down 9-2, J.D. Martinez had lifted a two-run shot out of Angel Stadium, too, as my dad called it a night.
In the late innings, we went on to load up the bases once we finally worked the walk. The bottom of the order – Upton, McCann, and Iglesias all reached base. McCann and Iglesias laid off outside 3-2 pitches, I was so proud of them. Ian Kinsler, too, worked a full count… before PARKING his first career grand slam in left! 9-8!!
We almost gave up a run the next two innings, but clutch Tiger double plays made it seem like the night was our destiny. Then, in the 8th, Victor Martinez blasted the ball over the right field wall for a tie game! UNBELIEVABLE!!
BUT – we couldn’t score in the 9th. And they did, walking us off on another home run to end the game. So colossally disappointing, but in the end, love does defy logic. I stayed up ’til 2 AM, and for some reason, I’ll be back again tomorrow to see us squander some base runners and jerk around the bullpen.
I can’t… help… myself.
Hey I couldn’t contact you directly on Twitter that’s why I write here.
Jason Bahri is Arab Lebanese. His parents were refugees from Lebanon. And now he is anti-immigrant, openly antisemitic and openly white nationalist forgetting that most white nationalist would not consider him a human being as Arab. Just saying.
