The pitching was a little shaky in the home opener of a four game series with the Oakland A’s.

Down 2-0 in the 2nd inning, the Tigers tied it after a two-run homer from Omar Infante cleared the left field wall.

Starter Anibal Sanchez gave up four runs in five innings, but left with the game tied thanks to Miguel Cabrera’s 43rd home run of the season.

Unfortunately, Jose Alvarez could only record one out in relief before needing Al-Al to replace him trailing 6-4. Al’s got a double play on his first pitch, but struggled in the next inning, allowing another run.

The A’s got one off of Jeremy Bonderman, too, in the 8th for an 8-4 lead.

The Tigers were bound to battle back; it’s what they do. They loaded the bases twice but couldn’t bring anyone home. A solo home run by Victor Martinez and another run in the 9th gave an 8-6 final score.

Justin Verlander looks to get our pitching on track tomorrow.
