The Tigers got their runs off a two-run double by Alex Avila. Ramon Santiago and Hernan Perez scored, bolstering the lineup from the bottom.
Joaquin Benoit finished off a tough ninth inning. Jimmy Rollins led off with a single on a pitch Avila called, “Good.” With one out, Rollins stole second. With two outs, he stole third. Darin Ruf batted next for the Phillies and grounded out to Perez for the final out.
