Rick Porcello receives the win after throwing six innings and surrendering three runs.

Porcello looked smooth in the first, getting the 1-2-3 hitters to each groud out. In the bottom of the inning, Torii Hunter singled and Prince Fielder hit a home run for a 2-0 Tigers lead.

In the top of the second, Rick let a solo homer and a double get by before getting the final out. Austin Jackson answered with an RBI triple, scoring Ramon Santiago who had worked a two out walk; 3-1 Tigers.

Alex Avila singled in two more runs the next inning for a 5-1 lead with the bases loaded after back-to-back-to-back singles from Miguel Cabrera, Fielder, and Victor Martinez.

The White Sox snarfed three straight singles in the top of the fourth for a 5-2 score and runners on first and third, one out. Torii Hunter dove and robbed the next batter, allowing only a sacrifice fly. The next White Sock hit it about five to ten feet shy of being gone, but Andy Dirks caught it to end the frame 5-3, Tigers still ahead.

Young Rick settled down for two more clean innings. They went 1-2-3 in the 5th with a strikeout looking to end the inning. He got a double play and then a strikeout in the sixth to end his night.

He received three more runs of support in the bottom of the inning thanks to three straight singles from Cabrera, Fielder, and Martinez again.

Bruce Rondon looked sketchy in the 7th, giving up a solo home run and another earned run before stranding a man on second.

Drew Smyly, on the other hand, dominated the 8th, grounding out Big Donkey and striking out the final swinger.

Joaquin Benoit closed the game, holding two walked White Sox on base. He admitted afterwards that he was too excited from all the VOTE BENNY signs. Give him some slack, snarfs.

The Tigers won 8-5.
