Everyone says Mateen was a joke in the pros… I don’t know.

Let’s go back to the game he got hurt. April 3, 2000. NCAA Title game vs. Billy Donovan and Florida.

Cleaves sprains his ankle with 16:18 to play on this dirty sequence:

Teddy Dupay of Florida hooks mateen’s ankle with his own; the dirty snarf watches Mateen through it yet doesn’t stop his ankle lock.

Nonetheless, four minutes later, Man Up Mateen leads State to this:

Mateen never really made it after the Pistons made him a 1st round pick, quite possibly because he got injured.

As for Dupay; he was kicked off the Gators before graduating, and I watched him play in the CBA with my brother and dad. Feb 21, 2003 at the DeltaPlex, The Grand Rapids Hoops ($24 for 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 popcorns, 4 sodas) vs. the Rockford, IL, Lightning. He had to endure us slaughtering him for being that guy, and then you wouldn’t believe it: he sprains his ankle… Left the game, never really did anything. Mateen is doing well as the Pistons guy, too.
