I didn’t realize how abandoned the city of Motown was until I took at class at the University of Michigan breaking down the “white flight.” I’ve written it before: the city of Detroit, like it’s sports teams, is actually in great current standing – yet the money remains in the suburbs still.

Where are the African-American fans in our stands at Comerica who represent so much of our diverse culture? They’ve been priced out, and instead, these apathetic fucks frequent our ballpark, uninformed and cynical… we need real fans. We need them. Our young inner-city youths shouldn’t be unable to afford a ticket.

I’m watching so much talent being wasted by Brad Ausmus, but in a way, Detroit, he represents you: pure apathy for what should be a perennial contender. Are we even aware how lucky we are to have some of these future hall of famers?

You can speak up. You can demand your ’84 star Kirk Gibson simply walk down from the booth and take over as manager. You can call out the Free Press for supporting Ausmus last season (*cough* Mitch Albom, *cough*).

The time is now. No one is going anywhere unless you make them, individual citizens. IT’S ALWAYS UP TO YOU, ALWAYS. GET UPSET OR DIE COMFORTABLY NUMB, watching what should have been a World Series winner sit at .500 while summer DRAGS ON…

UP TO YOU.
