Charles Barkley fires back — Daryl Morey of Houston Rockets a stats idiot – ESPN.

Barkley came under fire for some nerdy tweet Morey sent his way, bitter Barkley called out his Rockets for not being legit contenders.

First, this tweeting is so goddamn gay. FUCK SOCIAL MEDIA. (You can follow me @ElSportingsnarf.)

But Barkley made some actual great points in response to the Houston general manager. Morey is one of those “analytics idiots,” said Sir Charles.

He pointed out that while some stats can be helpful, how’d Houston become good? By signing two stars, Dwight Howard & James Harden. Where is the analytics for Josh Smith?

“They say that same crap in baseball, and they put these little lightweight teams together and they never win,” Barkley said. “They’re always competitive to a certain degree and they don’t win. It’s the same thing in the NBA.”

While stats translate better in baseball, I still agree. We are way overboard in the 21st century just because lamens finally figured out how to use a computer.

“An NBA coach, speaking to ESPN.com senior writer Ramona Shelburne, said there is value in the use of analytics but that it is limited.

“To say they’ve revolutionized everything about coaching or basketball is just wrong,” the coach said.

The NBA coach said he uses analytics but that a lot of the statistics and formulas have been available for 10 years.

“You just had to look it up yourself on a computer,” the coach said.”
