Detroit won 6-0 behind nine innings from Porcello, who pitched his first career shutout. The young starter looked a little older, surrendering just three hits and three walks all night while striking out six. The Tigers kept the Rangers off the base path even when they reached with three double plays.

Torii Hunter brought in the game’s opening run with a bases loaded walk. The Tigers collectively worked Texas’ starter, who couldn’t find the strike zone all day. We chased him midway through the third inning. For the entire game, we took 153 pitches for six walks.

Austin Jackson made it 3-0 in the 3rd with a two-run single. Ian Kinsler then brought him home, staying hot against his old team. The Tigers loaded the bases again the next inning and scored on another Kinsler RBI. “Big Cat”  went 4-5 on the night and knocked Kinsler home in the 8th on a double off the wall for the game’s final run.
