My boy is putting up surreal numbers in a league dominated by guards. Only Andre Drummond, Blake Griffin, and Greg Monroe are even in this conversation.

This year, the award deserves to go to Jordan. He’s leading the league in rebounding with 14.9 per game – whoa (Drummond is 2nd).

He’s one of four players averaging more than two blocks a game, and he straight carried us during that stretch without Griffin. He also snarfs those steals.

Someday, this award will be Drum’s. This year, it’s DeAndre.

Here’s what coach Doc Rivers had to say about his star big man (via Arash Markazi of ESPN):

“He’s clearly the defensive player of the year,” Rivers said Sunday. “If anybody else gets that award, we need to have an investigation. … What he’s doing defensively, if he was doing that offensively, he would be recognized as the MVP or one of them, but because it’s defense, no one notices.”
