Some fresh Red Wings helped their team win two in row at home. Center Stephen Weiss in his third game back scored the first goal of the game for Detroit midway through the opening period. Weiss has three goals since returning from Hernia surgery. We signed him a five-year, $25 million dollar deal before last season, but the injury forced him to miss most the year.

Also, Pavel Datsyuk made his return to the lineup. After Tommy Jurco put us back up 2-1, the Russian scored consecutive goals in the second period. One, he slapped the puck out of the air and into the net, and two, he sent a slap shot that our own guy had to avoid for dear life.

Jimmy Howard stopped 22 of 24 saves en route to a 5-2 victory.
