With a 1-0 loss to Germany, the United States stayed close enough to beat Portugal for second place in Group G at the World Cup. We beat Ghana 2-1 and tied Portugal, and they beat Ghana 2-1 as well today. However, their 4-0 loss to the Germans sealed our ticket.
