Snarf (snärf): A humorous occurrence and/or person, specifically one relating to the world of sport

About Us

The Sporting Snarf is a website dedicated to the enjoyable, humorous, and nuanced aspects of the sporting and (to a lesser extent) pop-culture world. We attempt to touch upon (in varying degrees of print/video length) engaging topics which are not discussed nearly enough. We'd love for you to give us your perspective, network, and participate regularly. But if you'd just like to join in on the mob-mentality and get all sanctimonious on a particular sports figure -- head on over to ESPN.com. (Mickey Mouse welcomes you.) Or you can keep it real with us.

Tragedy in College Football

Ted Agu, defensive lineman of California Golden Bears, dies – ESPN.

It is believed that Agu, 21, collapsed at practice and died because of his sickle cell trait. While respecting the situation, I would like to point out that to ESPN, the following are all more important than the sudden death at practice of a defensive lineman:

A-Rod. Aaron Hernandez’s cell phone. A college conference change. And a baseball free agent signing.

Someone died during a major college football university practice. Died.

Not a suspension; not a criminal; not money; not money.

A kid died.

C’mon, Snarfspn.
