Nothing like being legitametly scared for our lives! The out-of-touchness inherent in so many white conversations since the election is sickening – and it’s mostly white people, but some others, too. This bitter dissecting from the Bernie Sanders crowd mixed with untimely lies and horrendous reporting from our national media led to the most disinformed voting class in American history.
Roughly 70%, according to exit poll estimates, of all voters were white people. And 52% of white women supported a man caught on tape bragging about molesting women and constantly showcasing a born-rich, “I can do anything I want”-cavalier attitude towards women and sex his entire life. We had countless victims come out and accuse him of rape, to which I’ve witnessed people go on to blame the victims without any knowledge or information themselves.
I am in horror. Shock. I feel so bad for women all over the world, who, like myself, couldn’t have been more thrilled to be on the verge of history. My old neighbor warned me about the electoral college (which may be our only hope now…), and sure enough, Hillary Clinton won the popular vote. Seeing President Obama’s legacy handed over to the worst candidate of all-time is enough to make anyone reach for the nearest vomit bag.
Not even in office yet, there’s plenty of opportunity to impeach the little weasel. We know he’s guilty of sexual assault on numerous counts, and those trials will start before he’s in command. And Drumpf University. The unpaid workers. He even cut his own campaign staff early and didn’t pay some of them at all. And the number of hate crimes in schools and across the country is soaring since the vote.
I just wish my articles over the last 18 months had meant more to more apathetic people who don’t think this stuff is that serious. I leave you with an excerpt from the New York Times in 1922:
But several reliable, well-informed sources confirmed the idea that Hitler’s anti-Semitism was not so genuine or violent as it sounded, and that he was merely using anti-Semitic propaganda as a bait to catch masses of followers and keep them aroused, enthusiastic, and in line for the time when his organization is perfected and sufficiently powerful to be employed effectively for political purposes.
A sophisticated politician credited Hitler with peculiar political cleverness for laying emphasis and over-emphasis on anti-Semitism, saying: “You can’t expect the masses to understand or appreciate your finer real aims. You must feed the masses with cruder morsels and ideas like anti-Semitism. It would be politically all wrong to tell them the truth about where you really are leading them.”
