Welcome, Wizards

TheSportingSnarf is a website dedicated to the enjoyable, humorous, and nuanced aspects of the sporting and (to a lesser extent) pop-culture world.  We attempt to touch upon (in varying degrees of print/video length) engaging topics which are not discussed nearly enough. We’d love for you to give us your perspective, network, and participate regularly. But if you’d just like to join in on the mob-mentality and get all sanctimonious on a particular sports figure — head on over to ESPN.com. (Mickey Mouse welcomes you.) Or you can keep it real with us.

Grand Rapids, Michigan

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

— Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Missed You

I left Jess June 5th, right before midnight to fly back to Grand Rapids. While I’d had the time of my life in Canada, they sent me home six weeks earlier than we’d planned, forcing us to wait twice as long (3 months) to see each other again. Jess will be making the same trip […]

International Love

So, I built this article up for a while. I was so overjoyed upon finally seeing in person the woman I’ve loved for so long, and being with her in Canada has made me happier than I’ve ever felt before. Michigan won their first Final Four game in epic fashion, completing a sensational 2nd half […]

Final Night O’ Flood

Fuck thiiis!!! Learned a lot in the last week, though. I am going to marry my girl in Canada someday. Have a family. I reflected on the love I have for my chat, “Let’s Get High,” and the utter disdain I leave behind to the cowards at mmparty. YOU DARE FUCK WITH SOMETHING I LOVE […]

Fuck Bois = Sleep Loss

Imma eradicate the living snarf out of every one of you last fuck boys… I now know why I haven’t had a kid yet – too much bull shit. Trump – you delusional cock-sucker. I await the demise of your presidency with almost the excitement of oldschool upon ya man’s arrival. Haha but serious, I’m […]

Don’t Fuck with Jemele Hill

I’m fucking serious. How much more personal am I going to let the biggest bully to inherit the oval office get? Jemele Hill, focal point of ESPN, spoke out against the President and was then told by that said man, with prolific power, that she, a journalist, should be fired. For coherently, non-venomously, & articulately […]

Losing Power –> Gaining Control

Fuck the lights. I’m just kidding: 3-4 days in darkness without heat in 20 degree Michigan winter has been fun, but upon realizing my power returned at 3:00 AM this morning, I couldn’t be more grateful. 60+ MPH winds decimated the electricity for maybe millions of Michigan residents, including oldschool & I, this week, coinciding […]

One Last Time

One Last Time

What a ride it’s been, Barack Obama. From your 2008 victory while I was a junior in Ann Arbor to tonight’s speech in Chicago, you have turned this country around 180 degrees. In case anyone has forgotten, the United States was the laughing stock of the world, letting George Bush “Jr.” win back-to-back elections but […]

Hell of a Week

Starting Sunday, Matthew Stafford led the Lions on another come-from-behind victory to ensure the visiting Chicago Bears would not sweep the season series. Poor #9 played with white gloves on his hands after apparently dislocating one of his fingers. He soldiered through two catastrophic interceptions to lead another drive down the field in the 4th […]

Lions Escape with Poor Play

Much like Michigan, maybe it’s worth taking an early look in the mirror instead of rolling through the season with mistakes uncorrected. In my humble opinion, Matthew Stafford is doing a better job calling plays for the Detroit Lions than the coaches are. We managed to win at home against a mildly talented Jacksonville Jaguars […]

Blessed By GNess

It would be awfully difficult to match the swagger of 69-year old Elton John, who I watched rock the piano in Toledo like he was still in the 1970s. Boy can that man sing, too. He belted out so many soulful, emotional songs that my glasses were constantly being wiped clean. I miss my dog […]

Ralph Walks Tall

Here I sit, gazing upon my Mickey Lolich autographed bobblehead, given to me free of purchase at last night’s Whitecaps game. But, how did Young $narf aka Eric Ralph arrive at this moment? We begin this legacy in Detroit, Michigan, where my grandpa taught my father the sports I would someday fall in love with. […]
