Ruining the Super Bowl

I hope Atlanta, the NFL, and everyone who watched understands what we just did. Instead of remembering a beatdown of NE, Lady Gaga’s electric halftime performance (the best of all-time with a nod to Prince), and all the festivities, we get to watch a team of Trump supporters parade around for an entire year.

The football gods gave the Falcons every single chance. After much cheating almost led to a 2nd quarter pats TD, the ball did not lie and was intercepted by ATL for a pick-6 and a 21-0 lead. They even scored first in the second half to lead 28-3. The rest of the game is enough to sour the entire memory of Super Bowl Sunday.

When you don’t finish, there is no confetti. When you fumble away a 16-point lead, allow both 2-point conversions, fail to run it or score a final field goal – there is no glory for you. It takes a whole season to reach the point we just left. And we all sat, right on the edge of glory, only to hand it away for the rest of sports history…

  • All-Time Victory Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions would not be bullied into submission by their former division rival the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Instead, they forced five turnovers, Stafford with taped fingers barely threw an incompletion, and Matt Prater drained the game-winning field goal in Florida’s face with almost no time left. Florida can suck our Michigan [...]

  • Take a Knee, Potus For the most public time since his election, Donald J. Trump is, in his crude terms, most definitely losing. Ole racist rhetoric went down south and labeled black NFL players for taking a knee and protesting race relations in their country. His outrageous request to “fire” anyone demonstrating blew up in his face, with demonstrations [...]
  • How a Real Team Does It Well, happy early 30th birthday to snarf, because that’s the game I’ve been waiting my entire life for the Detroit Lions to play. They got an early lead, played enough defense to hold onto it, capitalized on the other team’s mistakes, and ran the ball home to a 24-10 victory. I knew I’d seen that [...]
