I think we can all hear David Bowie saying, “Under Pressure,” right about now. While the Lions eliminated fellow division foe Minnesota from playoff contention with their loss today, the dreaded division rival Green Bay Packers survived a lucky win in Chicago to creep within one game of us. There are two left. And the finale, in Detroit, pits us against Green Bay.

This game, albeit in some cold rain, was a definite playoff test for the Lions. Next week, on Monday Night Football, we cannot play so sloppy. You can’t let their running back gain over 100 yards. You can’t let your opponent march down for an effortless opening touchdown. You can’t keep turning it over near the goal line, Lions. We must learn from these mistakes for this is how you win in the NFL. Nothing is given to you.

We are still 9-5 and in prime position to make the playoffs. But the division has alluded us for so many recent seasons when we were good enough to win it. Let’s learn from the Giants, beat Dallas, and finish off the one team we haven’t been able to: the Packers.
