GO CUBS GO!

How can you not feel good watching the Chicago Cubs? I found myself transfixed on the TV in game five, realizing these guys couldn’t leave Wrigley without a win.

It’s been tricky with Cleveland getting undeserved home field advantage. And even though I wanted them out of the remaining teams to win the AL, that racist logo does not evoke the same childlike enthusiasm for baseball I get when I see the Cubs uniforms, fans, and stadium.

So I sincerely wish them the best of luck tonight – after winning game five they’ve really got a chance to force a game seven and potentially win the World Series, just take care of business tonight with superior pitching. It seems to come down to small ball every single time, so don’t let those pesky Indians (see? sounds so bad!) beat you by not going down without a fight. I’ve seen Chicago explode once they handle the early innings, and you’ll see them grow from the first five games.

Watching the 7th inning stretch at Wrigley, I couldn’t even partake in Take Me Out to the Ballgame as tears continuously streamed down my face. The hope that rings eternal in these Cubs fans is everything right with sports, and I hope we all come together tonight (and potentially tomorrow) to bring a great team the distance…

  • Season (& Night(s)) to Remember Well, West Michigan: it was not the way we wanted it to end, losing the final two games at home by one run each time. BUT – you lost several key players and still provided the river with one helluva season. I elected to listen to game three on the radio and hear the roar from [...]
  • Always on My Mind I almost can’t believe it, but a year has passed since I sadly said goodbye to my West Michigan Whitecaps when they exited the Midwest League playoffs. • Despicable Detroit The clock had just struck midnight in West Michigan. September had arrived – as did my younger brother, whose car door could be heard at 11:59. It was supposed to be lucky: since we were kids and Nickelodeon told us to begin each month by saying, “rabbit, rabbit,” we strove for it, even getting it [...]
  • Must Stop Repeating the Past Detroit cannot keep repeating the same juvenile habits that have crippled us in seasons past. I’m LOOKING RIGHT AT YOU, BRAD AUSMUS. DO YOUR GODDAMN JOB. Stop depending on spread sheets, matchups, and absurd statistics to make every basic decision for you. You’ve had enough time to acclimate to being manager, and you must find [...]
