WHEN YOU PLAY NOT TO LOSE – YOU inevitably lose.

As heartbreaking a loss as this was, to me, the players do not deserve to be blamed. Why was Martha Ford there? To witness the ineptitude of our entire coaching staff.

We can for sure blame head coach Jim Caldwell for not giving us any height in the end zone on a trivial jump ball. Know, Lions fans: that was a preventable play. Put Calvin Johnson on the goalline, and we win the game.

Blame Jim Bob Cooter: After scoring 17 points in the 1st quarter, we failed to reach the end zone again. I admired the adjustment to their blitz at halftime, but why not make it in the 2nd quarter, when we had Green Bay on the ropes? “Rob Riggle” received undue credit for last week’s win against Philly: Megatron and Matthew Stafford bailed him out with sensational scrambling and difficult catches.

And you can also blame our defensive coaching staff. After an utter dominant shutout in the first half, including sacks and an interception, we couldn’t contain ultimate bitch A-Fag to save our lives that second half.

The Packers were lucky to recover their own fumble in the end zone to finally score, sure; but they’d already marched into our red zone. And the way we let them score their third touchdown was embarrassing. Too much attempted stripping at the ball for a fumble without the sound tackling.

We put Stafford in harm’s way up 20-7, dropping him back to be blindsided for the sack-fumble. That’s how a 20-0 game quickly became 20-14.

Now, normally I don’t implicate the fans. There is a vulnerability and sacredness here; we don’t make nearly the money these snarfs do, and simply attending a game is a dream come true for most.

HOWEVER – there is a prevailing pessimism I’m all too familiar with as a Clippers fan that is lingering like a cloud over Detroit, specifically Ford Field. All there is is now. Ever. We have to stop sending this pessimistic energy to our boys, myself included.

Stafford moved us into field goal range to make it 23-14 at the time (before the no-tackling drive). He held the ball with three minutes to go, got Green Bay to burn through their last timeout, then brought the clock down to 30 seconds for the punt.

Our defense made some nice plays, expiring the clock on a pitch-back play to A-Douche. BUT – a terrible face mask call, which did not happen, gave them an untimed down.

We all know what happened next. First of all, Caldwell brought no blitz, buying far too much time to throw. And obviously, we didn’t defend a stupid jumpball AT ALL.

No one ever deserves to lose like this. As kids, you depend on coaches (who aren’t jacked full of adrenaline, emotion, nerves, etc.) to make sound decisions for you, especially in the clutch. This is why only a handful of professional coaches hold all the rings.

NEVER LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN, DETROIT: DEMAND BETTER. This is what I’m talking about as a fan base: DEMAND BETTER.

We have to fire these inept, shitty coaches. OR WE WILL BE DOOMED (like our Tigers) TO REPEAT FAILURE AGAIN AND AGAIN.

YOU AND OUR PLAYERS DESERVE BETTER.
