God bless them boys in Red and Blue.

Personally, I’d be lost without this game. I talk the Eckhart Tolle talk, but I’m still working on the walk.

Fortunately, when my two teams meet, I can drop back and be the spectator I’m supposed to be.

In this Saturday afternoon affair, Los Angeles was still without Chris Paul or J.J. Redick, so it was lucky we didn’t get blown out. With more time together, the young Pistons would have done just that.

Reggie Jackson & Co. stormed out with 20 points in the first six minutes, but we failed to finish Q’s all night long. Experience kept LAC in it, trailing by a small margin after one.

Detroit busted out again to begin the 2nd, allowing the lead to surpass double-digits, threatening 20+. After making some shots, finally, the Clippers cut it to a 60-51 halftime position.

It’s almost like LA lulled us to sleep, it being only 1 PM PST, maybe sunnier than the D. (Although ’twas a shiny day here, too.) Jamal Crawford and Blake Griffin kept it within ten, then LA closed the 3rd on a run and actually took the lead in the closing seconds.

Selfishly, this was what I wanted: a close, hard-fought game. And we got it! Nobody could buy a bucket in the 4th, and it remained a back-and-forth ballgame.

LA is a huge stage – for example, Floyd Mayweather Jr. was right there courtside. Thanks to one or two more hustle plays, the Clippers pulled away for the 101-97 final.

Gracias, Gs, for one helluva show on a Saturday afternoon. Let’s get it for the rest of this season!
