Those Detroit Tigers played a wonderful game against the National League last night.

Shane Greene kept it low-scoring for the first several innings. Only Yoenis Cespedes left the yard in a 1-0 early lead. We tacked on a second when Anthony Gose tripled and was sacrificed home on an Ian Kinsler fly ball.

Miguel Cabrera woke everybody up with a bomb to center field in the middle innings with one Tiger on base. He now shares the Venezuelan national record with 399 home runs, equaling fellow Big Cat Andres Galarraga. He is also tied with Tigers all-time legend Al Kaline.

That wasn’t it for Detroit. Up next batted J.D. Martinez, who lofted one high into the left field sky, and it just kept going and going until it landed in the corner of fair territory just over the fence! Back-to-back homers for the Tigers.

It’s a good thing we blasted off, because the Cardinals were about to do the same. According to the Detroit Free Press, Shane Greene was pulled after five innings due to some nerve issues. “There’s no pain,” he said. “Just a little tingling on my fingers and I’ve had the surgery before so I know it’s kind of a red flag.” He gave up no runs, aided by some flashy defense and a nice double play in the first inning.

Blaine Hardy worked the 6th smoothly, setting up Angel Nesbitt in the 7th. After two quick outs, a runner reached base, and then Jhonny Peralta crushed one against his former team. That bastard!

Sensing some insurance would help, Detroit rallied with two outs in the ensuing frame to tack on another run. Gose delivered an infield hit after we stranded a man on third with one out. I’m still worried Brad Ausmus is not proactive.

St. Louis launched another home run off of Tom Gorzelanny, who was quickly replaced by Joba Chamberlain. Detroit is going to need two more bullpen guns in their arsenal to play it safe as a legit contender. Why not pay some mother fuckers who simply get the job done? We can afford it and are too good to waste.

This game was really two different halves. The last three innings exploded with fireworks – the Tigers went on to add four more runs after the Cardinals came within two. Cabrera and J.D. led off with singles, then Cespedes drove them both home on a double to the wall. “The Can” and Jose Iglesias made the rest happen.

Even Al-Al couldn’t blow that lead for the 10-4 final. INTERLEAGUE PLAY.
