Grand Rapids beat Rockford 5-3 in the opening game at Van Andel Arena. And we can thank the electric Teemu Pulkkinen and his three goals.
We scored two minutes into the game and rode a 1-0 lead into the second period. After they tied it, Pulkkinen scored twice in three minutes to make it 3-1 after two.
Rockford came back to tie it halfway through the final period. That’s when Teemu scored the game-winner, a go-ahead goal with under three minutes left in regulation.
