Jose Iglesias is becoming a one man show at shortstop. He dazzled Comerica with more theatrics today, turning swift double plays and finding unreachable throws make their way to Miguel Cabrera.

Our team once again used defense and pitching to win a close low-scoring affair, 2-1. Alfredo Simon out-dueled C.C. Sabathia, who went a complete game and lost.

Simon was striking out Yankees all night long. His only blemish came on a solo shot early on. He lasted 7 and 1/3 innings until he had to be removed with runners on the corners, one out.

Enter Joba Chamberlain. Against his old team, he got a familiar foe to ground into the 6-4-3 double play to end the threat! He let out that Joba roar (and quickly lost his voice) with the crowd behind him.

We found our bats in the bottom of the 7th. Rajai Davis tagged up to take second with one out, then with two outs, V was intentionally walked. The score 1-0 New York, J.D. “The Student” Martinez took his time before delivering a single to left field. No throw home.

Yoenis Cespedes also took a couple pitches. Then, he smacked one back up the middle, sending a flying V on his horse around third – again, no throw home. Instead, they tagged out J.D. going to third, but it was 2-1 Tigers.

Those pussy moves translated to the offensive side, too. The Yankees had a man on second and got a hit to center field, and Rajai bobbled it. We assumed they’d score (tying it at two), but they held the runner at third. That’s when Chamberlain put out the fire.

Joakim Soria easily sent the overpaid all-stars back to the dugout in the 9th, earning another save. In the rain, our fans were an unsung hero, supporting their Tigers ’til the end.

“The Can” also gets a nod for his third straight start. Shane Greene liked his work yesterday, and he guided “Big Pasta” to another nice win. He also threw out a potential thief in the middle innings.
