For a second, I thought it’d be another joint column where both the Clippers and Pistons knocked off the two top teams in the NBA. Instead, the glory is all Detroit’s tonight.

At the Palace, we brought a strong 4th quarter to blow past Atlanta, the team with the Eastern Conference’s best record.

We knew we could beat them. It was close all year against the Hawks, with the last loss in Detroit only a 106-103 game. This time, even without “Moose” Monroe or our top two point guards, we came out on top.

Reggie Jackson wasn’t feeling well but gutted the first two quarters out for ten assists. He couldn’t play much in the second half. Spencer Dimwiddie sprained his ankle in the second frame, leaving John Lucas III.

Lucas gets the game ball (with a nod to Andre Drummond). He stepped up in the fourth, helping us finish them off. At the end of regulation with the game in hand, Atlanta’s Thabo Sefolosha (fag for Chicago and the Thunder) felt like being petty.

Under two minutes left down 100-84, he went on a personal stats run. Thanks to some desperation, Faglosha cut it to seven, but with only 24 seconds remaining. Lucas, clearly agitated, launched a deep, unnecessary three and drained it at the buzzer. An “F- You” shot to end the game.

GET THE FUCK OUT, HAWKS. Tayshaun Prince was the only thing flying, soaring in for the lefty flush. Anthony Tolliver played 40 minutes, Drummond went for 22 and 13 on 8-11 shooting, and Lucas III had 15 points on 7-11 shooting. Pope chipped in 18.
