Time to sit back and enjoy the weekend, NBA fans. We’ve all rooted for our teams hard for 50+ games = break time.

Friday warmed us up with the usual: Rookie/Sophomore Game, Celebrity Game. Bon Jovi?

Kevin Hart won his fourth straight MVP despite another losing effort – it’s his show. He did a nice job of thanking Stuart Scott, the host for many years. RIP.

The star of Grey’s Anatomy, a doctor, went down with a bad injury late. It’s harsh, but a reminder as usual that basketball is for the pros. That’s what I like about this game: they really aren’t bad, but it makes you appreciate each level of competition throughout the weekend as it increases. The WNBA players (a stocky 3-point snarf + Skylar Diggins) and former NBAers (Chris Mullen, Allan Houston), led the scoring. Sarah Silverman was the Snarf MVP.

A whiny reggae band came out with some whiteness inbetween games. We can do better, NBA. Beck?

The Rook game has been tweeked too much. Once a perfect battle between rookies and sophomores, they made us draft sides among the whole group, and this year put the international players vs. the Americans.

While the game still featured strong U.S. dunking, a Piston, and Trey Burke, the internationals only shot 3’s and used their awkward height for easy, pussy, unsatisfying dunks. Most of them didn’t deserve to be there, while Americans Tim Hardaway Jr., Nik Stauskas, and Glenn Robinson III, among others, were left at home.

The old contest was epic. It was a real battle of pride. The sophomores usually won with a clear advantage like older brothers. But, when the rookies won, it really gave them the swag. Going strong since 1994 – don’t mess with the original.

Bon Jovi was built up for one final musical act to end Friday. After listening to TNT for a solid half hour, he finally came out. Then performed one song. Off to Saturday!
