After hearing, we all had to go out and still be Pistons no matter if it was us fans or the players. We all were loving these winning times, and our leader had been Brandon Jennings. This is an unexpected, tragic loss for Detroit.

And it’s not like last night wasn’t bad enough. We still had to turn around and fly to Toronto where we tipped off tonight.

Oldschool and I caught our boys at halftime, 58-53 Raptors. D.J. Augustin filled in at point guard for Jennings, and he filled the big shoes left behind. By the end of the night, our backup had a career-high 35 along with eight assists. We are in more than capable hands, fortunately.

As we watched the third quarter (and George Blaha broke the news to us), you couldn’t help but be stunned. I wondered if the Pistons had processed it yet themselves. It seemed like it was still raw, and we looked a little out of sync. At the end of three, we trailed ten.

No one would have blamed Detroit for folding here. Nonetheless, we kept trimming the lead to single-digits and eventually got it to around five. The Pistons put the pressure on Toronto to finish, which they barely did, 114-110. Blame our defense, but credit our heart.

Give us some time to heal, snarfs.
