In the midst of a six-game road trip, Detroit avenged their opening loss to the Canucks with back-to-back wins in Edmonton and Calgary.

Justin Abdelkader has been leading the charge with two goals and three assists in these two victories. The Oilers had tied it at two in the third period until they were assessed a four minute penalty. The Red Wings scored twice during the advantage to put them away. Jimmy Howard made 21 saves.

Petr Mrazek gave Howard the rest on consecutive nights (like our Pistons). He stopped 28 in a 3-2 win over the Flames. Gustav Nyquist and Henrik Zetterberg found Abdelkader for the eventual game-winner on a third period power play.
