Johan “Mule” Franzen took one in the face early on, forcing his exit. Winnipeg took an early 2-0 lead. Thirty seconds later, in the second period, Tomas Tatar answered with an unassisted goal of his own.

Then, “The Mule” returned, galvanizing his fellow Red Wings with a goal. Furthermore, Petr Mrazek kept us in it despite a third goal from the Jets. It would have been out of hand if not for the called-up Grand Rapids Griffin. He saved 28 shots on the night.

Down 3-2 in the third, Justin Abdelkader tied it for Detroit. Finally, with five minutes left, Kader found Tatar again for the game-winner. On the road, we closed the game out with more strong defense and saves from Petr “Griffin.”
