Rick Porcello earned his 15th win of the season thanks to eight innings of two-run ball. All the Yanks mustered was two solo home runs by the same snarf and no walks.

Detroit, meanwhile, worked it together to bring across five total. Rajai Davis walked in the game’s initial run. J.D. Martinez drove in our second run (“Big Cat”), putting us ahead 2-0 then 2-1 after a solo.

The game’s winning run was scored on a Nick Castellanos knock up the middle with men on second and third. Alex Avila drove in the other runner, putting us ahead 4-1.

Torii Hunter brought in the Tigers final run after a lead-off double from Davis in the later innings. New York added their other solo, but that was it.

Joe Nathan notched another save to secure a strong performance.
