Alex Avila lifted a solo home run high into the New York Sky to end a 3-3 12th inning tie. That extra run stayed the difference to secure our lone win in the series.

Detroit received a true warrior in Price, who cost us center fielder Austin Jackson as well as promising young lefty Drew Smyly. Luckily, Price is worth it. He struck out 10 in 8 and 2/3 gutsy innings, giving the ball to Joba Chamberlain.

Joba lacked no adrenaline in his return to Yankee Stadium, lighting up the 9th and 10th innings with four solid outs. That kept us in the game through crunch time, along with the game’s winner Joakim Soria.

Finally, Joe Nathan forced every fan’s heart to skip a beat en route to the deepest fly ball in right field possible. Luckily, J.D. Martinez was right there for the catch. Fuck you, Joe!
