Credit to Detroit – the fans remaining and the players could have folded going into the bottom of the ninth. Instead, we denied another Tampa pitcher from throwing a complete game.

J.D. Martinez led off the last frame with a solo shot, putting us within one swing down 7-3. Then, while David Price could see his nine innings at the end of the tunnel with only 95 pitches, we worked him. Two Tigers walks chased Price. It was once again a time when Price, the Rays, and maybe the average Tiger fan saw us giving up. Wrong, again!

Unfortunately, it was a rough first inning for Rick Porcello, who started with three in the first and ended up surrendering seven earned runs on the night. He’s still worthy of the last all-star spot; vote for him here: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2014/fv/ballot.jsp?tcid=ASG14_final-vote_homepage-media-walls. In related news, Ian Kinsler was not selected as a back-up. Hopefully, this will change immediately as an injury replacement, for this is a travesty. Kinsler should not only be on the roster, he deserves to be starting along with Victor Martinez.

Torii Hunter ripped one out for our second run of the game. No one knows what the fuck was going on these last three games, but we’ve all got a day to think about it. Then, we can remember and show the Dodgers what the AL is all about, eh?
