Detroit picked up where it left off last night, rolling along with their grand slam swag for a series sweep of the Oakland Athletics.

Justin Verlander earned the win, pitching six innings and exiting with a 9-2 lead after throwing 102 pitches. Verlander cruised, surrendering just two runs on nine hits without giving up a walk. The runs came on two solo homers in the first inning.

Manager Brad Ausmus made one of his best decision’s yet. Austin Jackson, despite several clutch walks, was mired in an 0-18 slump. Instead of benching AJax, Ausmus put him in the leadoff position, his old spot. Jackson went 3-5 with an RBI and two runs, providing the catalyst for our nine run day.

The Tigers scored six runs in the 6th. Rajai Davis drove one up the middle for two runs, and Miguel Cabrera doubled in two more. Davis finished 2-4, Ian Kinsler batted 2-5, and Torii Hunter drove home three runs on three hits.

The Hardy snarf looked solid in relief, and the 9-3 lead was enough for even Joe Nathan not to blow.
