Victor Martinez smacked another home run while oldschool was helping me fix my cable box – Martinez es asi que el fuego (is so on fire) that we missed it. I also mistook it as #18, when in fact it’s #19. Blink and you’ll miss. V.

That put us ahead 1-0. The Indians tied it on an error and took the lead on a solo home run while the camera’s distracted us with Scherzer. So that was all Justin Verlander allowed in seven innings, essentially two runs he couldn’t help. “The Man” threw 100 pitches, striking out eight, and only gave up four hits and one walk.

The Tigers tied it for Verlander in the 6th on a Martinez single that brought home Miguel Cabrera. The next inning, we gave him the lead on back-to-back home runs from Rajai Davis then Ian Kinsler.

The 4-2 lead was handed to Al Albuquerque, who wasted little time drilling an Indian (no racism intended; change that name!) and letting the next batter double him home.

Thank God, new snarf Blaine Hardy came in and pitched us through it, earning three outs the hard way with a man in scoring position. Cleveland stranded him at third for the 3-4 game that was blown by Joe (see nextdoor article).

Luckily, the resilient Tigers worked the game-winning run across in extra innings, as they deserved this one. Kinsler drove a single up the middle to leadoff the 10th, and Austin Jackson laid down a bunt that advanced him to second. Cabrera followed suit with a monster double off the wall, sending Ian home. Once again, 5-4 was the final score.
