Justin Verlander was a one man show.

Verlander threw seven innings, only surrendered two runs, struck out eight, walked one, got two hits, and scored. Goddamn.

It was his first hit after 27 unsuccessful at bats. He said after the game the other guys have been ragging him every year with new jokes, and he had a big smile at first base after he got it.

The poor guy has stressed himself so hard for Detroit sine 2006 that you could see a balding spot when he removed his helmet. He’s 31. I hope in some small way this can start to let him relax a little. Scherzer has a Cy Young, and Anibal Sanchez is an All-Star, too, so it’s time to let that hair grow.

The key to Justin’s strong night was turning down the volume on my TV. Seriously. Rod Allen and Mario need to learn how to shut the fuck up. If you shove any more stats down my throat my brain will explode. Please, stop talking so much. It’s distracting as hell.

Rajai Davis led off the game with a single, then he was doubled home by Ian Kinsler. Two batters, 1-0 Detroit.

Here is the scoring summary:

1-1.

2-1: Miguel Cabrera doubles in Kinsler.

4-1: Verlander and Davis score on a Torii Hunter single up the middle.

4-2.

6-2: Austin Jackson ground rule double’s with the bases loaded.

*Davis went 2-4 with a walk and three runs, while Kinsler hit 2-4 with two doubles, a walk, an RBI, and two runs.
