Max Scherzer was snarfed out of a game #2 win, so this time he received some win/loss redemption.

007 struck out eight in seven innings of works, surrendering two earned runs. He left with the game Dodgers 2, Detroit 1. We made up for it this time.

The Tigers put on an inspiring rally to tie it in the top of the 9th. Ian Kinsler led off with a double that probably should have been a single, but he hustled hard.

Despite not having Don Kelly bunt to advance the runner and wasting the out, we got the run in anyways with two outs. Victor Martinez singled in Kinsler to dramatically tie it.

The bullpen really was solid. Ian Krol got us through the 8th and Joba Chamberlin struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth. It was emphatic. Unfortunately, Ausmus left Joba in to walk the leadoff man in the 10th.

Enter Phil Coke. Coke gave up a routine looking hit to left field, but Rajai Davis misplayed it and let it get behind him – IN THESE STAKES. Unreal. All that hard work unraveled on one miscue at 1:30+ AM ET. Wahhhh. Tired.

NOTES: Austin Jackson smacked a solo home run after LA’s leadoff man had done the same. Torii Hunter and Kelly both made awkward slides into the right field wall, the former forcing Hunter to exit the game in the 5th inning. “The Tigers announced a short time after Hunter left the game that he had a left knee contusion and is listed as day to day,” (MLive.com). The Dodgers second run came from a shallow sacrifice fly to center field and a weak resulting throw home by Jackson.
