Detroit Lions Step UP

“As an organization and football team, the Detroit Lions place the highest priority on inclusiveness and diversity,” team president Tom Lewand said Monday in a statement released by the team. “We applaud Michael Sam for his courage and proactive approach, and we will evaluate him, like every player, based solely on his ability to help the Lions win football games.”

I am very proud of the Lions! This is great to hear. The NFL issued a nice statement, too:

The NFL publicly supported Sam shortly after his story went public Sunday.

“We admire Michael Sam’s honesty and courage,” the league said in a statement. “Michael is a football player. Any player with ability and determination can succeed in the NFL. We look forward to welcoming and supporting Michael Sam in 2014.”

  • Denver Broncos Advance to AFC Championship What a gritty, grind-it-out game. Reminiscent of Tony Dungy during Peyton Manning’s time with Indy, Denver utilized the field goal to conquer their opponent in a defensive war.
