What a strange comparison. The Wire is completely fact based. A former Baltimore detective and a Baltimore Sun reporter created the show. It will never, ever be approached.

Breaking Bad is pure entertainment. It is one of my favorite shows of all team, but it is fictional. Such a strange comparison.

The Wire gets respect because that’s how it is. I live in Grand Rapids, not too far from Detroit, where my dad was born and raised. Baltimore is similar to Detroit. Because it’s real, it gets my respect.

Breaking Bad is the story of a regular guy “breaking bad.” That’s why it’s so intriguing; he’s a normal dad. But the story is not normal. The Wire is normal life in a major city in our own country. We choose to ignore our poor people, and the show sheds light on social issues we actually need to change.

It’s like comparing Barack Obama to Harry Potter. Make sure the real gets recognized. And that’s no disrespect to Potter, lol. His story inspires, right? Like the legend of Walter White. But the Wire is more like a documentary for me. Both great; but one is actually happening.
