Andy Dirks put Detroit on the board trailing 2-0 with his first homer of the season, a solo shot to right field.

Then, trailing 3-1, Dirks safely bunted to reach first base. Miguel Cabrera was walked to bring up the Prince, who knocked it clear out past center field for the 4-3 eventual final.

Starter Max Scherzer (3-0) went 7 and 1/3 with no walks, six hits, three earned runs, and 10 strikeouts. He was relieved by Drew Smyly, who pitched well, getting four more outs. Joaquin Benoit was brought in for the final out, and he got it.

The Twins will be back tomorrow, 7:05 PM ET.
