When we last met, the Tigers had tallied an extra-inning loss to the A’s.

START: Saturday, April 13

Tigers 7, A’s 3 F

Justin Verlander has a knack for righting the ship. After allowing a 2nd inning run to start the A’s off 1-0, Verlander kept them in check the rest of the way.

The Tigers were starting to scare us, what with all the scoreless innings since Prince’s 3-run shot, until Torii Hunter decided to hit his first home run as a Tiger in the top of the 3rd.

Prince Fielder didn’t like the tie, though, sending his own solo shot out of the Coliseum for a 2-1 Tigers lead. Johnny Peralta also sent one out that 4th inning with two on for a 5-1 score.

In the top of the sixth, backup catcher Brayan Pena came through for an RBI. Austin Jackson sent Pena home to up it 7-1.

Verlander passed the ball to Al-Al in the bottom of the 7th, still 7-1. (Smh.) Enter Phil Coke: 7-3, now.

Bottom of the 8th, 7-3, bases loaded with A’s, two outs. CALLED STRIKE THREE.

9th: J. Benoit stays in.

BB. K. K. K. (those mean strikeouts, not the KKK. K?)

Please, allow me to elaborate. We could still taste the extra-inning loss from the night before, but we’re up 7-1 and Verlander has thrown six strong.

Al-Al let’s the A’s within reach at 7-3, then Benoit loads the bases.

Jesus.

Clippers-Grizzlies

First of all, the Clippers don’t like the Grizzlies.

They play ugly & we remember from last year’s 7-game series.
